Spyglass: An Empire State of Mind

Joe Goglia, GM at Spyglass, is quick to point out the magnificent, unobstructed views of the Empire State Building. “It just might be the best view in the area,” he says proudly. It’s a big draw, a view like that, and equally so this intimate, beautifully designed spot almost entirely functions as an outdoor bar most of the summer months, with doors that slide open. When the cooler weather settles in, guests mingle in the back room, where recently added lounge furniture adds function to accommodate bottle service, as well as flair. Low lighting enhances the mood, and behind the bar, a list of new fall cocktails are waiting to be savored.

“All our cocktails are seasonally inspired,” explains Goglia, who originally joined Spyglass as its mixologist. “A few will extend into the early fall, but most will be replaced. Think darker spirits and expect another Champagne cocktail on the list too.” A selection of hot drinks might work well under the heat lamps that are set to debut this season on the patio.
