SEASONAL BREWS WITH SAM ADAMS

Cold evenings call for the warmth of holiday spices. Enter Samuel Adams Seasonal and Barrel Room Collection brews, crafted with special attention to all those inviting and familiar tastes you associate with this time of the year to pair perfectly with seasonal fare.

Winter Lager
A dark wheat, bock beer brewed with fresh ground cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel that cuts through rich holiday foods like duck. Winter Lager has a deep, smooth flavor and malty finish, an ideal complement to the flavors of a roasted holiday turkey and seasonal desserts like apple pie, carrot cake, and gingerbread.

White Christmas
This refreshing, unfiltered white ale is brewed with cinnamon and nutmeg spices and orange peel to create a distinct herbal, spice, and citrus character. The crisp, wheat malt and spicy character complement lighter dishes like seared scallops or a salad with cranberries and goat cheese while the spices help contrast richer entrees like duck, baked ham, or risotto, and even desserts such as pumpkin cheesecake or a fruit tart.

Merry Maker
A full-bodied, strong, and dark gingerbread stout perfect for the holidays. The brew is slightly nutty with
a sweet roasty character, notes of cocoa, and a rich blend of spices including cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and ginger for a layer of complexity and lingering heat. A great pairing for favorite holiday dishes with similar spice profiles, but it also complements less traditional fare like fried oysters, goat cheese, or truffle mac and cheese. The spices and sweet malts cut through rich foods, while the earthiness of the ginger and hops complement similar flavors in these dishes.

Tetravis
A bold interpretation of a traditional Belgian Quadrupel, and a gold medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival this past October. Tetravis is rich and complex with a molasses sweetness and notes of dark fruits, like raisins and figs, and an undercurrent of tart spice and fruitiness from its distinctive Belgian yeast and from adding Kosmic Mother Funk®, a special barrel-aged ale. The spicy and clove notes cuts through creamy cheeses like Camembert and pairs well with smoked meats like charcuterie. The bold molasses sweetness complements rich dishes like roast beef and stews. The spicy Belgian yeast character complements warm notes in desserts like crème brûlée and spiced cakes.

New World
A uniquely refreshing, big, flavorful, and complex Tripel, golden in color with a dense, creamy head. A special Belgian yeast strain adds tropical fruit and spice notes to the crisp dry ale, while Saaz hops add a subtle herbal note. A great match to the intensity of a flavorful and rich duck or seafood paella.

Thirteenth Hour
A Belgian stout that combines the roasted chocolate and coffee flavors of a stout with the spicy character of an oak-aged Belgian ale. The combination of seven different malts creates a brilliant black brew that’s full-bodied and smooth with rich notes of coffee, chocolate, and dark fruits like raisins and plums. The intensity of its dark roasty and smoky notes complement and contrast the bold flavors of spicy, charred dishes like blackened tuna or Cajun chicken.

Stony Brook Red
A full-bodied ale that defies traditional beer style definitions. The rich, malty brew combines notes of tart fruit from Belgian-style yeast with a toasty oak character inherent from the barrel- aging process, and its long dry finish is almost wine-like. Satisfying on its own, it also pairs well with many foods such as braised or roasted meats, beef stews, and strong salty cheeses. Stony Brook Red’s complexity, deep malt sweetness, and slight acidity also work perfectly with the briny sweet flavors of mussels.

American Kriek
The intense black cherry character comes from a secondary fermentation on a bed of Balaton® cherries, prized for their sweet tart juice and depth of flavor. Cherries are a traditional ingredient used in the classic Belgian kriek style and their tartness and dark fruity flavors are balanced by a rich, malty character with toasted oak notes added from barrel aging. A great balance to desserts like a rich, creamy chocolate mousse or dark chocolate cake.
