Opening Day: David Burke at Bloomingdale’s Gets a Makeover

There’s always something cookin’ at the David Burke Group, and this season is no exception. David Burke at Bloomingdale’s steps into the fall fashion spotlight with a new look and feel. David Burke Kitchen gets set to debut in Aspen with great fanfare from the locals, especially with its heated patio! It’s sure to please the hardcore skiers as well as the ski bunnies! And two new David Burke Group concepts open up in the Prudential Center just in time for another exciting season of New Jersey Devils hockey and Seton Hall Pirates basketball. Game on!

Given his background in the arts — from Broadway to working for fashion’s high-end retailers, such as Jil Sander and Stella McCartney — finding himself at David Burke at Bloomingdale’s was the perfect storm for General Manager Hank Stampfl. He was instantly able to tap into creating interactive experiences for the guests and quickly realized that the space needed a little more fashionable appeal. Now renovations are finished, and from color palette to taste palate, the look is definitely in season.

“Today, David Burke at Bloomingdale’s has achieved just that. During this renovation we added chic furniture upgrades; a new color palette of orange, yellows, and grays; and repackaged everything with sophistication and focus. We elevated the dining experience, replaced our service team uniforms, and reformatted our service standards.

Design wise, we created additional counter seating and an open kitchen layout. The takeout side has also been expanded and restyled, allowing food items to easily be accessed for guests on the go. This new layout creates an environment more conducive to hosting various types of events.

David Burke Group’s Executive Chef Matt O’Neill was a mentor in the kitchen. Both he and Executive Chef Jose Max wrote
the menu to feature tasty, light bites and delicious, indulgent dishes. The elevated culinary experience focuses on fresh, seasonal, and creative takes on classic dishes with the option to eat in or take out. Dishes include Tuna Niçoise, Lobster Wedge Salad, Roasted Mushroom Pizza, Roasted Duck Breast, BBQ Miso Salmon, and a Kitchen Sink Sundae. Signature favorites,
including The Juicy Burker and the Cheesecake Lollipop Tree, will maintain their places on the menus. Those looking for refreshing cocktails can sip on the ever-popular Not Your Momma’s Cosmo, Bloomingdale’s Beauty, Midtown Mule, Basil & Gin Sizzle, and Espresso Martini, all of which are exclusive to David Burke at Bloomingdale’s.

In addition to the revitalized atmosphere, we now feature day-to-night dining through extensive menu offerings, intimate lighting, adaptable décor, and more. And we now take reservations for this desired seating period. To enhance our evening dining, we have planned specialty wine dinners and Fancy Fridays in partnership with the cosmetic floor in Bloomingdale’s.
Given its location, David Burke at Bloomingdale’s has unlimited appeal. It’s the perfect place for someone like Tom Ford to come in and do an event or our wine partners to host dinners and special parties. And of course, it’s the ultimate spot for an intimate dinner, a business meeting, or a lunch date with the ladies after an exhausting morning of shopping!”
